SOPHIE’S PREDICTIONS FOR 2025

It has become an annual tradition for Sophie to forecast the jewellery trends we will be seeing a lot more of in the year ahead. A fun moment to reflect on what clients have been leaning towards in recent months, it is also an opportunity to consider the longer-term changes in tastes that we are anticipating in 2025, and design new pieces around them. Of course, this doesn’t mean you need to replace your entire jewellery collection. Unlike the fashion industry, where each season marks the arrival of new must-haves, jewellery trends tend to quietly make themselves felt little by little. Read on for Sophie’s predictions for 2025.

Silver is officially back

The resurgence in sterling silver is the perfect example of a slow-burning jewellery trend. What began in 2024 with an uptick in silver pieces sold—the SB Little Bow bracelet and necklace were among our most-popular Christmas gifts—will explode in 2025, predicts Sophie, with silver making a full comeback. Anticipating more requests for this trending metal in the months ahead, this spring Sophie will revisit several classic SB pieces in silver, including our Chunky Necklace and Bracelet.

A renewed appreciation of natural diamonds

Last year, the tide began to turn on lab-grown diamonds.  With their ethical credentials called into question—it is now forbidden to describe them as more eco-friendly—and the market flooded with an endless supply of them, Sophie predicts that appreciation for natural diamonds will begin to grow again in 2025.

On the surface, it is impossible to tell the difference between a natural and lab-grown diamond. However, with the development of new technology that can quickly distinguish between the two and the inherent magic of natural diamonds and the cosmic processes responsible for their existence, this battle is far from over, says Sophie, who anticipates a slow but steady pivot back to natural diamonds in 2025.

Antique diamonds continue to enchant

Offering a welcome respite from the natural vs. lab-grown debate, there is one category of diamonds that is powering ahead right now: antique stones. With their squeaky-clean ethical credentials and a beauty that is quite distinct from the precision-cut diamonds of today, Sophie predicts the resurgence in popularity of antique diamonds to continue in 2025.

Our Antique Edit, which launched in May of last year, was one of our biggest success stories in 2024, and Sophie is currently sourcing a new batch of antique diamonds for a fresh drop of rings in 2025. What is their appeal, exactly? Playing into the growing trend for individuality, the unique characteristics of antique diamonds—their historical significance, their characterful cutting styles and the fact that no two stones are the same—give them a vintage charm all of their own.

A return to simplicity

Is the neck-mess over? Not currently, says Sophie, but she is predicting a preference for a neater necklace look in 2025, with fewer layered chains. The launch of our Torque necklace in 9 carat gold at the end of 2024 feeds into this more-streamlined trend. Earmarked as the surprising “It” jewellery piece for 2025 in The Telegraph, where the SB Torque necklace is featured, alongside a quote from Sophie, this simple yet bold jewel brings with it a sense of structure that feels very different to the fluid chains that have dominated in recent years.

Customisation, customisation, customisation

Finally, let’s return to the theme of individuality, which Sophie predicts will be a major driving force in the world of jewellery in the coming year. Jewels customised with the wearer’s birthstone will continue to be a big trend, alongside a move away from the traditional all-diamond look in bridal, with more clients opting for coloured gemstone eternity and wedding rings in 2025.

If there is one word that will dominate the Sophie Breitmeyer universe in the months to come, it is customisation. Soon, we will be introducing a new category of customised jewellery that bridges the gap between our Bespoke and Ready-to-Wear offerings. Think our best-selling Bow Necklace, customised with the birthstones of your choice, and you will have a taste of what’s to come in 2025.
