Sophie Breitmeyer, Founder and Creative Director

Sophie Breitmeyer specialises in creating jewellery that will be treasured for a lifetime, earning her a name as Notting Hill's modern-day family jeweller. Blending antique silhouettes with contemporary wearability, Sophie's designs are crafted to transcend the trends and be passed down through generations. Traditionally, families worked with one dedicated jeweller, where trust is valued, relationships are strong, knowledge is shared and the quality is impeccable. This is the Sophie Breitmeyer mantra.

Influenced by her upbringing and life lived as a creative, Sophie is continually inspired by the arts, history, fashion and architecture. She has a strong interest in the Art Deco movement and antique jewellery. She draws inspiration from complimentary creative disciplines to design pieces that are striking yet timeless.

After studying Jewellery Design at Central Saint Martins, Sophie worked as a trainee mounter in the fine jewellery workshop, HA Jordan, before starting her eponymous brand. A supporter of traditional British hand craftsmanship, she works closely with master goldsmiths and trusted dealers to produce jewellery imbued with meaning and value. Every client and every piece of jewellery build the foundation of the SB family that is so important to Sophie.

“The magic is in the symbolism of creating something that lasts an eternity both emotionally and physically. I see pieces of jewellery almost as my children - I get very excited when I see them, I get very excited when they are finished, and the feeling never gets old.”

Hackle

Customer Greeting Officer

Allow us to introduce you to Hackle, the best model we could wish for and a constant presence in our studio. At 10 years old, he has a little less energy these days. However, on a good day he is always there to greet dog-loving visitors and play games around the shop, if you feel like it, and has the power to charm you instantly.

The Studio

Situated in the heart of Notting Hill, West London, the Sophie Breitmeyer studio is an eclectic home-from-home filled with items that Sophie has collected on her travels. Kept company by her dog, Hackle, this is where Sophie designs, creates and welcomes clients.

With comfy chairs, a relaxed atmosphere and a rotating display of contemporary art adorning the walls, Sophie’s jewellery can be discovered dotted among the art books and oil paintings. Shielded from the eyes of passers-by, the space is designed to help you feel inspired, relaxed and open to learning so that you will feel confident making the important decisions that accompany investing in fine and bespoke jewellery.

“From the soft, warm and plentiful colours to our wall of curiosities, curated with archival magazines, ornaments and jewellery, the studio is eclectic and welcoming,” says Sophie. “ One of my favourite areas is the wall of photographs that have been sent in by clients over the years. Even though I wasn’t present on the day, it was such an honour to be involved in so many of these life-changing moments. These thoughtful memories make everything I do worthwhile.”

The Sophie Breitmeyer studio is open by appointment only from Monday to Friday, with evening appointments available on Mondays and Tuesdays. Whether you would like to discuss a bespoke commission, are looking for a unique engagement ring or are simply in need of some friendly advice, all are welcome for a cup of tea - or a glass of something a little stronger.
