Top Notch Edit
An exciting collaboration with the gemstone wizard Jean-Noel Soni, aka Top Notch Faceting, the SB x Top Notch Edit comprises a series of retro-inspired, bombé cocktail rings showcasing a series of unique gems. One of the most innovative stone cutters in the jewellery industry today, Jean-Noel travels to remote countries to source all the rough stones himself and cuts them by hand to maximise the natural beauty of the raw material.
Sophie’s design ethos is to create future heirlooms, and the bombé shape of the SB x Top Notch rings is reminiscent of one of her favourite styles of antique jewellery. Each Top Notch gem is framed by a diamond halo to emphasise the one-of-a-kind silhouettes of the gemstones.
Top Notch Tanzanian Green Garnet Cocktail Ring
Created in collaboration with Top Notch Faceting, our Tanzanian Green Garnet Cocktail Ring is designed to showcase the distinctive characteristics of the 1.93 carat garnet. The chunky bombé style, popularised in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, creates a bold frame around the uniquely shaped and cut green garnet. Sophie chose a fine diamond halo and bezel setting, surrounded by an expanse of platinum, to ensure the focus is on this one-of-a-kind garnet, with the ring making as much of a statement as the centre stone.
Top Notch Blue Madagascan Sapphire Cocktail Ring
£12,300
Neither an oval or a pear shape, the unique 2.49 carat Madagascan blue sapphire at the heart of our bombé-style cocktail ring was cut and polished by Top Notch Faceting, which has built a reputation as one of the most innovative stone cutters in the jewellery industry today. Sophie chose to frame the centre stone with a fine diamond halo and bezel setting, surrounded by an expanse of platinum, to ensure the focus is on this one-of-a-kind sapphire, with the ring making as much of a statement as the centre stone.
Top Notch Madagascan Mint Grey Sapphire Cocktail Ring
£8,100
Jean-Noel Soni, aka Top Notch Faceting, has a knack for hunting out unusual gemstones and cutting them in unexpected shapes, like this 3.07 carat Madagascan sapphire. Created in collaboration with Top Notch, Sophie decided that this unique sapphire, which displays a stunning mint-grey colour, would look best showcased in 9 karat yellow gold with the chunky, bombé-style cocktail ring making as much of a statement as the centre stone.
Top Notch
Jean-Noel Soni founded Top Notch Faceting to change people’s perceptions of what constitutes a beautiful gemstone. What traditional dealers and cutters might see as less than perfect in terms of colour and shape, Jean-Noel has made his creative signature. His distinctive style of cutting gems with an open culet is a characteristic most commonly associated with antique stones - Sophie’s favourite gems to work with.
