TSAVORITEOne of the most valuable varieties of the garnet family, the tsavorite was only discovered in the 1960s in Africa, near the border between Kenya and Tanzania. A beautiful gemstone with a naturally vivid, clean green colour, the tsavorite is a great alternative to an emerald because it is both more durable and more affordable.

A cadillac cut diamond is a shield-shaped stone with five sides. With one long base, two sides that taper at exactly the same angle and two further sides that come together to form an apex point, the cadillac cut is so called because its silhouette is reminiscent of the famous Cadillac logo.

A measurement of the purity of gold alloyed with other metals, 18K gold is composed of 75% pure gold and 25% alloy. white gold while the tsavorite is clasped in 18K yellow gold claws – a thoughtful detail that enhances the delicate green colour of the centre stone.
For the Mine to Mount Project, Sophie travelled to Kenya to see first-hand where the tsavorites she loves to use in her designs originate from. This 1.66ct carat cushion cut tsavorite was sourced directly from an artisanal mine located just outside Tsavo National Park.
All proceeds go to to Gem Legacy, a non-profit charity that promotes community development in East African artisanal gem mining communities.
